Executive Director

Overview:

 

Jobs for America’s Graduates New Mexico (JAG-NM) is an in-school program focused on helping at-risk high school students graduate and prepare them for success beyond high school. JAG-NM is seeking an Executive Director who will be responsible for leading the organization and overseeing its growth and expansion. The JAG-NM Board of Directors is looking to fill this position with a self-starter who can successfully operate in a start-up environment and has a passion for helping New Mexico students succeed.

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Oversee the JAG-NM program, ensuring the successful implementation of JAG at each school site.

 

  • Manage program staff, providing the leadership required to set each staff member up for success.

 

  • Identify and secure funding for JAG-NM’s sustainability and growth, including legislative appropriations, fundraising, and grant writing.

 

  • Successfully advocate for the JAG-NM program with key stakeholders, including state leaders, legislators, policymakers, educational leaders, the business community, and community leaders.

 

  • Forge partnerships with the private sector to secure support for the JAG-NM program and employer engagement opportunities for JAG students.

 

  • Recruit new schools to the JAG-NM program.

 

  • Develop an annual budget to present to the JAG-NM Board of Directors and manage the financials of the program under the director of the board.

 

  • Manage JAG-NM marketing and communication, including social media.

 

  • Report regularly to the JAG-NM Board of Directors.

 

  • Help manage the Board of Directors' regular meetings. This includes setting up meetings, managing invitations, developing agendas, attending, and ensuring agreed-upon action items are completed.

 

  • Serve as the New Mexico liaison to the national Jobs for America’s Graduates organization.

 

  • Travel to JAG-NM school sites and out-of-state conferences

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years managing a not-for-profit or equivalent management experience.

 

  • Government affairs experience is strongly preferred. JAG-NM needs a strong advocate at the State Capitol. 

 

  • Fundraising experience is strongly preferred.
