​Position Overview
The Out-of-School Youth (OOS) Specialist recruits, supports, and guides young people to complete a high school diploma or GED/HSE and transition successfully into employment or postsecondary education. Using the JAG Model, the Specialist delivers trauma-informed, project-based learning and provides long-term, holistic support to participants.

Core Responsibilities

Deliver JAG competencies through project-based and experiential learning tailored to participant needs.

Recruit eligible participants through community outreach and partnerships; assess program fit using JAG guidelines.

Develop and maintain Individualized Development Plans (IDPs) for each participant.

Build strong, trust-based relationships with participants, employers, community agencies, and Advisory Committee members.

Facilitate service-learning projects, field trips, job shadows, and leadership opportunities through the Professional Association.

Provide one-on-one coaching and connect participants to wraparound supports and resources.

Track all services and contacts in the JAG National Database and maintain accurate, organized records.

Support participants during a 12-month follow-up period after program completion.

Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and statewide training.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

Experience working with disconnected youth and utilizing trauma-informed approaches.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and build trusted, supportive relationships.

Proficiency with technology platforms such as Google Workspace and Video Conferencing.
