A Simple Sandwich, A Powerful Connection: Kindness Across the Constellations

Midday refueling was provided by Gourmet To Go, whose sandwiches and salads kept our students, staff, and employer partners mission-ready. At the end of the event, a few meals were left. Rather than let them go unused, a JAG-NM staff member launched a small kindness mission of their own, sharing the meals with neighbors in need.

One sandwich reached an elderly blind woman, who later called to share her gratitude. She was so moved that she reached out to Gourmet To Go directly to thank them. The owner, hearing her story and unaware the meal originated from a JAG-NM event, offered to deliver lunch to her every day until she regained her strength, asking only that she pay what she could.

In a day full of leadership lessons, this was one of the most powerful: one small act of service can create a ripple effect across an entire community. Leadership isn’t just about taking charge; it’s about lifting others into orbit.
